5.3- B2E Electronic Commerce Descripiton

Through the intranet, businesses are able to hire or contact employees on the internet. The employer within the corporate network can send messages through their server, with the VPN securing the transmission of the message to the employee, the client in particular. The firewalls of the employer ensures that the message being sent is safeguarded from alterations of another source while it is sent to the employee.

5.2- B2B E-Commerce Description

DCQ Pizza Parlor would be capable of doing business with our suppliers on the extranet thanks to the Virtual Private Network that ensures that whatever information we send goes only to point A:B from B:A. As the clients, we send our requests to our supplier's server and because of the firewalls, it makes sure that our transactions are not known by our competitors

5.1- Critique your Competitor's E-Commerce Website

Papa Johns' allows its customers to order their products on their website, therefore the business itself is capable of selling its products through the internet. The website also offers gift cards, has a menu to display its products, and it even has a Spanish version of itself available.

E-Commerce Rules:

Rule 1-The website should offer something unique. (Papa Johns' website gives its customers points to free products whenever they order on their website, encouraging them to order more from their website.) 4/5

Rule 2-The website must be aesthetically pleasing. ( The website has a pleasing yet average background design and it shows high quality pictures of their products.) 3/5

Rule 3- The website must be easy and fast. (The website is simplistic in what you want to look for, whether from products, gift cards, or store location.) 5/5

Rule 4- The website  must motivate people to visit, to stay, and to return. (It has little unique features that allow customers to order more from their website rather than going to one of their stores.) 2/5

Rule 5- You must advertise your presence on the web. (Not that common on the web.) 1/5

Rule 6- You should learn from your website. ( The website itself is pretty basic, not much to learn from.) 1/5

Rating: 3/5- The website does allow customers to order on their website and offers several deals and coupons as well, and it is not complicated to use and understand. The website however is basic in appearance and will only hold the users attention for awhile (On alexa.com, it shows that only 2% of people in America visit the website). It is not as innovative because some of its features are also being used by other competing websites as well.

4.3- Packet Switching Technology Description

In the diagram, each network send and share information through routers that connect from one network to another. Messages, which are divided into packets are sent by a client to the server with the help of Internet Protocol (IP), which sends the packets through nodes, and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) which basically manages the packets being sent. An IP address is used to that shows the destination of the sent packet and is relied on by the IP datagram.

The problem with concurrent data transmission is that multiple users send packets through one wire which can cause some packets being sent to the wrong destination, through packet-switching technology, each packet sent by one user is sent independently and then displays where it came from when it reaches its destination.

4.4-Entity-Relationship Diagram Description

In my entity-relationship diagram, I am able to describe the entities: the customers and the attributes I want to know about, such as their phone # or their address. Through records, I am able to keep together the data connected to my customers and the types of data that identifies the customer. By organizing the data and records into a database, I would also be capable of tracing the relationships to what that specific customer ordered, how much it costs, and many of them are their, making an effective business role.

4.2- Basic Network Description

In a basic network, the client sends requests to the Internet through their computer. The transmission medium sends the request through protocol and is digitized into bits in order for the servers to understand the request. The bandwidth holds the amount of converted information sent to the servers. Requests sent through wireless media is basically sent through the air and is determined by mobility. Cable media sends requests through physical pathways and links computers physically.

4.1-IFS H/W Infrastructure

By typing in the letters on the keyboard, the user is sending machine codes in order for the computer to understand. Each letter has a unique code that allows the computer to understand what letter is being typed in. So the letter "H" would be understood by the computer as "0101000" and "L" as "01001100". The ALU of the computer understands what is being typed in and its processing devices then transforms the inputs.
